I see people for individual therapy online, offering both short and long-term approaches, including single sessions.
Following an initial free telephone consultation, I start with a full assessment of your needs and your hope and goals for therapy. Following this, we make a plan together on the best next steps.
Having trained in a range of therapies, I strive to provide an intervention that is tailored to meet your specific needs. The main modalities that inform my work are:
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Compassion Focussed Therapy
We may initially contract to meet for a certain number of sessions with a specific goal in mind. It is important that we regularly review how therapy is progressing and whether it is meeting your needs.
As we progress towards the end of therapy, we can reduce sessions to fortnightly and then monthly. Many of my clients book 'top up' sessions once they have finished a course of therapy, so that they can maintain the progress they have made.
Sessions are £150, last 50 minutes and take place weekly.
Single Session Therapy
For many reasons, ongoing therapy might not be an option for you right now. This could be due to time or financial constraints, or potentially you are unsure about therapy. However, you may have a dilemma or question that you would like to discuss with an experienced and qualified professional who can help you think this through and hopefully find a way forward.
There is evidence to suggest that many people can find huge benefit from a single session with a therapist when both the client and the therapist are clear that the plan is to meet just once. This is what is known as ‘Single Session Therapy’ or ‘One At A Time Therapy’.
When both the client and therapist approach the session as if it might be the only time they need to meet, they can create a focus that is both meaningful and helpful. There is no need to do a full assessment and instead we can focus intently on a specific topic or question and get the most from this one appointment. However, follow up sessions are available if needed.
Single sessions are £200, last up to 60 minutes and include a follow up summary email with signposting to relevant resources.
